The sustainability agenda steers our direction
There is a growing awareness of the global challenges we are facing and their potential impact on our operations if we do not act in time – both within Bonava itself and among all our stakeholders. Our sustainability agenda guides our long-term direction and identifies the sustainability topics we need to prioritise in order to succeed with our strategy over time, achieve our targets, and contribute to global sustainable development.
In conjunction with Bonava’s review of its business strategy during the year, we revised the names of the areas of focus and the underlying aspects in the agenda so that these match the strategy better. Essentially, our assessment is that they are the same sustainability topics as in the past and that we continue to regard as key for Bonava. The new names of the areas of focus in the sustainability agenda are Embedded environmental respect, People-centric culture and Governance for high performance, and our overall purpose is to create Happy neighbourhoods for the many.
In conjunction with the strategy review in 2021, we also updated our mapping against the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We have identified three of the global sustainability goals which, with our purpose of building happy neighbourhoods for the many and our strategic targets, we regard as overall targets to promote. These are goals 8, 11 and 13. Many of the other SDGs and their targets are opportunities and prerequisites for achieving Bonava’s strategically overarching targets.
